Monash Commemorative Service, Parliament House Victoria 11 Aug 2023
On Friday 11 August 2022, the 23rd annual Spirit of Australia Foundation Monash Commemorative Service took place in the Legislative Assembly chamber of the Parliament of Victoria.
The assembled audience included students from a range of Victorian schools, including Scotch College, Monash’s alma mater, the Sir John Monash Science School, Bialik, McKinnon Secondary College, Mt Waverley Secondary College and Melbourne High School.
The Hon John Berger MP represented Hon. Natalie Suleyman MP – Minister for Veterans and the Government of Victoria.
A keynote address was delivered by Hannah Gandy LLB/BA (Politics) LLM, 2022 Victorian Government John Monash Scholar and a 2022 Rotary Global Grant Scholar. Hannah is employed at the Centre for Multicultural Youth as the Senior Liaison Officer for the Youth Referral and Independent Person Program, which supports 10–17 year-olds in police custody in Victoria. Her role focuses on incident management and coordination of procedural, legal, referral and welfare responses to achieve the best outcomes for youth in the justice system.
