Peter James Corkill
Peter James Corkill is an award winning educator and the founding Principal of the John Monash Science School. He brings a wealth of experience as an impactful leader in the secondary education space to his position on the board of the Spirit of Australia Foundation.

High Performing Principal Award in 2008
Enabled me to undertake study in the UK and bring back and initiate a ‘Learn To Learn’ program to Cheltenham Secondary College, initiated in partnership with two other local schools, Mentone Girls Secondary College and Parkdale Secondary College.
Victorian Secondary Principal of the Year in 2016
Awarded Secondary Principal of the Year 2016, in the Victorian Education Department Education Excellence Awards. Award enabled myself and two colleagues to attend a two-week educational tour of innovative schools in California, including Hi-Tech High and New Roads School. Our learnings greatly strengthened existing processes and informed new ones at JMSS.
Public Service Medal in 2018
Awarded the Public Service Medal in the Australia Day Honours, 2018, for my services to Science and Mathematics education in Victoria, in particular with respect to regional areas.
FACEL Award in 2018
Awarded a Fellowship of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders in 2018.
45 Years Service to State Education in Victoria
