The Spirit of Australia Foundation hosted the 2026 John Monash Commemorative Service at Parliament House in Melbourne, bringing together a powerful community to celebrate one of Australia's greatest leaders. The event was a profound tribute to Monash’s legacy, inspiring a new generation of leaders to embody his vision of innovation, integrity, and service.

The Spirit of Australia Foundation was honored to host its 2025 John Monash Commemorative Service at Parliament House in Melbourne, bringing together a powerful community to celebrate one of Australia's greatest leaders. The event was a profound tribute to Monash’s legacy, inspiring a new generation of leaders to embody his vision of innovation, integrity, and service.

The 2026 Spirit of Australia Leadership Forum was hosted at the Engineering Australia rooms in Melbourne on 26 February. Attending were 87 students and 14 teachers from 13 schools across Melbourne. The forum was designed for Year 11 students who demonstrate a keen interest in developing their leadership skills and exploring their potential.  

Now open to expressions of interest from Victorian Schools to attend the Victorian Service in the Legislative Assembly in Spring St Melbourne. It will be held the morning of Friday 7 August 2026. 

Each year, the Spirit of Australia Foundation holds multiple events across Australia to remember and celebrate significant Australians and historical events.

The Spirit of Australia Foundation participates annually in the Rotary Club of Melbourne's John Monash Medal, which has been awarded to significant Australian's who display Leadership, Integrity, and Service – values embodied by Sir John Monash himself, who was a founding member of Rotary Melbourne and its second president.

On the 8th of August the Spirit of Australia celebrates the battle of Amiens at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne. This annual service, held by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, commemorates the Australian role in the Battle of Amiens (8-11 August 1918), a turning point in World War I. The battle, a key part of the Hundred Days Offensive, saw combined Australian and Canadian forces, under the command of then Lieutenant General John Monash, achieve rapid success against the German lines. Monash, a charter member and past president (1922-23) of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, led the Australians to achieve their objectives in just two hours. The Rotary Club continues this tradition to honour the sacrifices made and the leadership shown at Amiens.

The Spirit of Australia Foundation hosts the John Monash Commemorative Service at Parliament House, Melbourne to acknowledge and celebrate the leadership of Sir John, and is attended by members of the Victorian Government, Victorian secondary schools, Rotary, the Shrine of Remembrance and Members of the Foundation.

Each year, the Spirit of Australia Foundation collaborates with State Governments, Secondary Schools and likeminded institutions as Rotary, the Australian War Memorial and Shrine of Rememberance to celebrate significant events and leadership in our national history.

These events are open to Members of the Foundation and on expression of interest.

In collaboration with new partners, we are building our program to offer our members and young leaders more opportunities to connect with our heritage and develop their leadership skills.
